West Legon Property Guide

West Legon, also known as Westlands, is recognized as one of the most elegant neighborhoods in Accra. To the south, it is bordered by Achimota, to the east, Taifa, to the North, Haatso, and to the west, the University of Ghana. West Legon is well planned with good roads and plenty of trees. It is well-organized, complete with good road networks with easy access to other neighboring areas such as Achimota, Dome, and Legon.

West Legon’s population is relatively moderate when compared to other locations in Accra. It includes many high net-worth property owners, middle-class residential tenants, shops, restaurants, schools, churches, and entertainment venues. Due to its proximity to the airport, many middle-class individuals who do not have the financial resources to purchase a home at West Legon have opted to rent. It serves as a cheaper, yet convenient alternative for them.

West Legon is predominantly populated with people in the mid to upper-class citizens and expatriates. There are a few shops, although some residents, especially the caretakers of buildings under construction, run kiosks selling food and toiletries outside their homes. Aside from shopping convenience, West Legon boasts many international schools that cater to mid-to-upper-income individuals. These include Brainy Brain, Eagle International School, and St. Albans International school. The After the Sunset Bar and Grill located in this area is a popular hangout that offers a variety of local Ghanaian and some continental dishes. Except for Westlands Gardens, a small watering hole that can be hired by private individuals for special occasions, there is little in the way of leisure activities and no nightlife.

West Legon has a variety of house types that cater to all property hunters. These include one to three-bedroom apartments, two to five-bedroom homes, and mansions with swimming pools and spacious parking space. Most of these homes come with modern and trendy architectural designs. West Legon includes a state-of-the-art police station that was built to help protect residents in the locality. Prices for luxury 3-bedroom houses range between US$300,000 and US$450,000, while two- bedroom homes attract prices between US$180,000 and US$220,000. One-bedroom homes typically range between US$110,000 and US$140,000.

West Legon is one of the most luxurious and safest neighborhoods in Accra. This makes it a prime location for expatriates who desire peace and safety whilst touring the country. Its multiple routes to vantage locations in Accra make it a highly sought-after neighborhood. This plush neighborhood features asphalted roads, running water, and reliable electricity.
